The Contrada Scaleri Regional Geological Nature Reserve is located in the Municipality of S. Caterina Villarmosa (CL); it occupies an area of ​​11.9 hectares, comprising two zones: zone A, of 3.3 Ha, destined for scientific purposes, zone B, of 8.6 Ha, destined for pre-reserve.

It is an area of ​​considerable naturalistic and geomorphological value due to the presence of little-known surface karst forms. And the region of the Erei Mountains, a rough orographic complex, consisting mainly of limestone tuffs, resting on softer, clayey soils, which alternate, as in Contrada Scaleri, large swathes of the chalky-sulphiferous formation of sudden karst dissolution. The area is characterized by typical Sicilian vegetation with the presence of: pear and wild olive, almond, euphorbias, wild oats, ferle, spots of capers, wild thistles, hand cutters, prucara, wild fennel and the rare orchid Anacamptys pyramidalis.
